High 5 Gallery presents PARANORMS, a mixed media exhibition by Sofya Mirvis. The work incapsulates a sense of longing for places free from our ‘norms’. Layers of drawn, collaged and painted elements add dimension to already compressed interactions. A trompe l’oeil effect permeates these pieces guiding the viewer through hidden narratives within ethereal landscapes. What seems at first a familiar existence comes into focus, moving us further and further into the unknown. PARANORMS will be on view in the month of April 2018 with an opening on Friday, April 6, 2018. www.high5gallery.com

Manayunk-Roxborough Art Center presents Surreal Narratives, a two-person exhibition featuring the work of Sofya Mirvis and Hermine Gittleman. Sofya Mirvis explores cultural narratives, seamlessly integrating collage elements into etherial landscape while Hermine Gittleman creates illustrative work using a unique technique of ink on mylar. Hermine's characters are the representation of the consequences of norms and beliefs created by these memories, while Sofya's environments present a sublime, but strangely familiar dystopia. The reception will be held on October 8, 2017 from 12-3 pm. The exhibit will extend to October 14 and 15 from 11-3 and will close with an artist talk on October 15 from 2-3 pm. Tons of stickers were on display last night at Rabbit Hole Productions for a one-night Pop-Up show featuring over 25 Philadelphia sticker and street artists. These events have included street artists who have turned to exhibiting their work in a traditional gallery setting, as well as those, like myself, who are well versed in a gallery setting but are new to street art. These events are great for trading, collaborative art making, and exchanging ideas, as well as planning new events, exhibitions, and projects.
The stickers have been a great avenue to sketch out new paintings ideas at a rapid pace, but since have become their own tiny artworks. I will be cataloguing and featuring these hand-painted miniatures in my store soon. Stay tuned!Read More
